Sex And Violence

Time to get my Mokkori on and maybe shoot a few random nameless bad guys in the process. Oh, wait. Ani-Magic is a family friendly con so I need to reduce the sex and violence to a dinner date and a thumb war.

It looked like the Topiary Gardens and the Rose Gardens were the main gathering locations. It looked like "Full Metal Achemist" was the big gathering that night. FMA is on my to-do list, right after "Put daughter through first grade." The Haruko with the VESPA looked cool strumming on her guitar. Siblings Ramen & Rice cosplayed as dueling siblings Ed & Al.

Strumming away with her fingers.
Ed vs Al; kind of like that Super Smash Brothers type FMA game.

So far the only character that I think I might be able to cosplay from FMA is the Zenigata-like character from that early Lupin-like episode. Or maybe Envy once I acquire more data. Until then, this was an interesting Envy.

Envy... or Wrath?
Was there some sort of Bible story about an apple of temptation?
CHOMP!
Two sins I could get used to seeing.

Oreo-Con was still in swing with its live rendition of Naruto endings (Click the pic to find nothing).

Maiyu performed amid the Topiary Gardens gatherings. She got audience members dancing onstage with her. It was easier for me to film instead of photograph.

Dancing Storm Trooper?
Audience involvement.

Opening ceremonies proceeded after Maiyu. Revell the Con Chair made his greetings to every attendee and guest. I couldn't stick around for it since Cosplay Revue was inching near and I still had to remember who I was and what I was singing. Yes, once again, Traveling Valentine decided to participate at Cosplay Revue once again. Last year was Lupin (Lupin the 3rd opening theme), this year was City Hunter (Love Games). I'm running out of English anime songs that fit the costumes I wear. And once again, I was the only male singing at the Revue.

Still practicing until the final second of Cosplay Revue with host ReyRey.
The City Hunter gathering.

After Revell's speech came the Taiko drummers to ring in AM. Cosplay Revue followed immediately afterwards. Cosplay Onee-sama performed with her Mermaid group. Nessa and Maryssa performed something Ayumi-esque. There was a cute little pop number about a good day. Traveling Valentine performed amid sound difficulty. I didn't practice this enough and forgot who I was and what I was singing.

Good Day

Once our song ended and news that "Fly Me To The Moon" was scrapped, Victoria and I headed back to the room to find the mates about to do their Twister party. Footage there was deleted because the angle was so wrong. Vic and I decided to wander around the grounds once everything was over. It was a bit unusual seeing the outdoor area die down so early. But Valencia had a noise curfew law that required AM to shut down the outdoor venues. We saw Maiyu, Hildechan, and others search the grounds for her missing camera. Eek!

Nothing much else to do except hit the bar. Karisu and Didjiman were also on the way to the bar. We shared a table and had a few drinks together. Thank you very much for the Pina Colada, you two. Jason the Recca-Con chair stopped by the table and there was a very detailed conversation about convention evolution there.

After bidding farewell to Karisu and family in addition to seeing twins Dan and Dave (thanks for the tempura, Emerald), Vic and I decided to call it a night. But that was easier said than done. Much socializing still went on in the room. The single bed (it was supposed to be a double) was pretty much full of sleeping attendees. I got Victoria a place to sleep on the bed in the orthodox manner, and I slept by the feet of the bed people like a cat. A cat that got kicked occasionally.

With no guns available, I improvise with whatever the hell this thing was.
